Former Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Kamran Akmal has called for calm and sportsmanship ahead of the much anticipated Asia Cup clash between Pakistan and India in Dubai on Sunday. With political tensions high following recent conflict between the two countries, Kamran urged both players and fans to keep emotions in check and let cricket take center stage.

“These are tough times in India-Pakistan relations, but the match can help ease differences if it goes smoothly,” he said. Kamran appealed to fans from both sides to “show big hearts” and enjoy the game without crossing the line.
Recalling his own experiences in high-pressure encounters, including the 2011 World Cup semi-final, he acknowledged that aggression is part of the rivalry but insisted it must remain controlled. “Aggression is the beauty of an India-Pakistan match, but respect should always be there. Cricket is a gentleman’s game,” he added.

Reflecting on his past spat with India’s Gautam Gambhir during the 2010 Asia Cup, Kamran said it was a misunderstanding and noted that the two have been good friends off the field. He stressed that despite the political backdrop, cricket could once again serve as a bridge between the two nations if Sunday’s game is played in the right spirit.
