Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has expressed gratitude for Virender Sehwag’s recent praise, calling it especially meaningful as it came from a respected on-field rival.

The Indian cricket great had recently suggested that young batters should study Inzamam’s calm and calculated approach during run-chases.

Speaking to Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Peshawar Zalmi, Inzamam said Sehwag’s remarks were humbling, particularly given the intense battles they shared on the field.

He agreed with Sehwag’s point that chasing wasn’t only about batting skill, but heavily depended on temperament.

The legendary batter explained that his ability to handle pressure in run-chases came from reading the game situation quickly, identifying weak links in the opposition’s bowling attack, and staying mentally composed until the end.

Inzamam also shared his thoughts on the modern T20 format, describing it as a mental game where smart decision-making often outweighs brute force.

He stressed that scoring runs in T20s wasn’t about attacking every ball but rather choosing the right time to accelerate.

Turning his focus to Babar Azam, Inzamam offered some advice for the current Pakistan batting star.

He urged Babar to remain patient during run-chases and to wait for the right moment to target specific bowlers instead of playing risky shots too early.

He said Babar already possesses all the shots but needs to be more tactical in execution.

Inzamam further praised Peshawar Zalmi’s team culture, saying their success in the PSL was built on unity and mutual support.

He likened the team’s approach to that of a family sticking together in tough situations, which, according to him, helped them turn difficult games around.

The former captain’s comments reflected his cricketing insight and his continuing influence on future generations.
