The International Cricket Council (ICC) has initiated a review into Indian captain the post-match remarks of Suryakumar Yadav following India defeating Pakistan.
The action follows a formal complaint from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), accusing Yadav of politicising cricket and breaching the code of neutrality of ICC.
As per reports, match referee Richie Richardson confirmed via email that the ICC received two official PCB submissions concerning public statements of Yadav.
These covered both his presentation ceremony speech and subsequent press conference, with the referee noting remarks may have “potentially harmed the image of the sport.”
Richardson reportedly concluded that the comments of Yadav warranted formal charges, citing conduct detrimental to the interests of game and damaging the game.

Indian captain now has the choice to either accept the charge or face a disciplinary hearing involving representatives from the ICC, PCB, and BCCI.
In his post-match speech after Indian victory, Yadav had dedicated the win of India to victims of the Pahalgam attack, while also praising the armed forces of India.
Later, during his press conference, he acknowledged that players avoided handshakes with Pakistani squad, citing instructions from the BCCI and the Indian government.
The PCB argued such statements politicised the game, insisting they undermined the principle of neutrality that explicitly discourages political references in international cricket.
The ICC is expected to deliver its decision shortly, with disciplinary outcomes ranging from monetary fines to suspension if the Indian captain contests the charge.
