Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been fined 30 percent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after making a controversial gesture during the high-voltage clash against India on September 21.

Fielding near the boundary, Haris responded to taunts from Indian fans by flashing a “6-0” hand signal and mimicking a crashing aircraft. The ICC ruled that the act breached its Code of Conduct, though Haris insisted it was aimed at the crowd and not meant as a political message.

In the same match, Sahibzada Farhan celebrated his fifty by mimicking a gunshot with his bat. While the move drew criticism, he explained it as a cultural gesture linked to his Pashtun heritage. ICC match referee Richie Richardson accepted the explanation but issued him a formal warning.

The penalties come after India’s Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30 percent of his match fee for political remarks following the September 14 group-stage encounter. That match also drew controversy when Indian players reportedly refused to shake hands before and after the game.

With both sides now set to meet for the third time in the tournament in Sunday’s final, tensions remain high. The ICC has reminded players that while emotions in the India-Pakistan rivalry often run deep, the spirit of the game must be upheld.
