Lahore Qalandars suffered a setback ahead of the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 matches as veteran all-rounder David Wiese confirmed he would not be returning to complete the tournament.
The South Africa-born cricketer, while speaking on a sports platform, explained that his decision was influenced by concerns for his family during the recent tensions between India and Pakistan. Although he acknowledged feeling secure while in Pakistan, he noted that the media portrayal of the situation abroad created fear among his loved ones.

Wiese pointed out that those unfamiliar with Pakistan’s geography or the country’s security arrangements might misinterpret events as more dangerous than they were. “From afar, it may appear like a war zone,” he said, adding that his family had been deeply affected by the coverage.
He confirmed he had initially left PSL 10 when the conflict escalated and had now decided against returning for the remaining matches. However, Wiese expressed interest in rejoining the league in the next season.

Despite his withdrawal, Wiese commended the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), team owners, and security officials for their transparency and consistent efforts to ensure players’ safety. He said there was regular contact with international players’ associations, and security updates were shared promptly.
The experienced all-rounder reiterated that he never felt unsafe during his time in Pakistan and praised the high level of security provided to players. His absence will be a major loss for Lahore Qalandars as they seek to recover form in the latter part of the tournament.
