The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has become the most watched edition in the history, with viewership figures soaring past all previous records. The event, co-hosted by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, attracted an extraordinary 368 billion global viewing minutes — a 19% rise from the 2017 edition in England and Wales.

The tournament, which featured eight top international teams, also set a record for the highest global viewing minutes per over (308 million), making it the most engaging ICC event to date.

India, led by captain Rohit Sharma, emerged as the champions following an unbeaten campaign. They defeated Australia in the semi-final and went on to beat New Zealand in the final held on March 9.

That final match against the Black Caps recorded 65.3 billion live viewing minutes, making it the most-watched Champions Trophy game ever — surpassing the 2017 final by over 52%. It also became the third-most watched game in any ICC event globally.

ICC Chair Jay Shah said the record numbers reflected the expanding global reach of cricket and the success of innovative broadcasting strategies.

He credited broadcasters like India’s JioStar network for inclusive and expansive coverage, offering feeds in nine languages and accessible formats like Indian Sign Language and audio descriptive commentary.

Enhanced digital delivery and India’s dominant performance helped cement the 2025 tournament’s place as a landmark event in cricket’s global journey.
