Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Executive Todd Greenberg has reiterated Australia’s commitment to deepening its cricketing relationship with Pakistan. His remarks come as both nations look to expand cooperation through bilateral series and increased participation of Pakistani players in Australia’s domestic T20 tournament, the Big Bash League (BBL).

During a media interaction, Greenberg confirmed that the Australian team will visit Pakistan next year for a white-ball series. He described the 2022 tour as a positive experience and said the upcoming visit would further strengthen ties between the two cricket boards.

Greenberg acknowledged the ongoing difficulties Pakistani players face in joining the BBL due to no objection certificate (NOC) requirements from the Pakistan Cricket Board. However, he revealed that discussions are underway to address these hurdles and pave the way for more Pakistani players to feature in the league.

He pointed out that Pakistani cricketers enjoy significant support in Australia, especially among the local South Asian community, and their presence in the BBL would enhance both the competition and its fan engagement.

Emphasising inclusivity, Greenberg stated that a player’s nationality should not limit their participation in top-tier cricket. He said the goal is to attract the best talent globally, and Pakistani players could play a vital role in elevating the quality of the tournament.
