In a remarkable achievement, Pakistani shooter Kishmala Talat secured the bronze medal in the 10-meter Air Pistol event at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. This historic win marks Pakistan’s first medal in the prestigious tournament. The competition saw India’s Palak Gulia and Esha Singh claiming gold and silver, respectively, while Talat’s impressive performance earned her a well-deserved spot on the podium.

Talat, with a total score of 218.2, showcased her shooting prowess in a highly competitive field. Her Indian counterparts, the talented Palak Gulia and Esha Singh, demonstrated exceptional skills and secured the first and second positions with scores of 242.1 and 239.7, respectively.

In the wake of this impressive victory, Kishmala Talat expressed her aspirations for the future, stating her eagerness to participate in the upcoming Olympics in 2024. With determination and dedication, she aims to represent her nation on the grand stage of the Paris Olympics.

In the realm of shooting sports, Pakistan’s journey in the 10-meter air rifle discipline concluded with Ghufran Adil, Aqib Latif, and Zeeshan Fareed falling short of qualification for the top 8 in the next round. Despite their efforts, Pakistan finished 14th as a team in the 10-meter air rifle competition, totaling 1874.8 points.

In another shooting competition, Pakistan’s GM Bashir initially displayed promise by securing the eighth position in the first round of the qualification phase. However, he faced a setback in the second round, accumulating only 13 points and missing the top 4 race.

Additionally, in a significant development, the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has granted permission for two female athletes, Sahib e Asra and Arooj Kiran, to travel to China and participate in the Asian Games. This decision followed consultations with the Pakistan Sports Board and comes after the athletes were initially barred from joining their fellow competitors due to a delay in the dope test results. Sahib e Asra is set to compete in the 400-meter race, while Arooj Kiran will represent Pakistan in the 100-meter category.

As the Asian Games 2023 continues to unfold, the remarkable achievements of athletes like Kishmala Talat, coupled with the resilience of Pakistan’s sporting community, serve as a testament to the nation’s talent and determination on the international stage.
