Former Punjab MPA Farhat Farooq has been apprehended by the police in connection with the attack on Jinnah House during the protests that took place on May 9. The arrest was made possible by tracing her through geofencing, a location-based tracking method employed by the authorities. Farooq will be presented before a court for further legal proceedings.

Another individual, Awais Mushtaq, was also arrested after being located through the geofencing process. The police are actively pursuing those involved in the attack on military installations and public properties, which occurred during the violent protests led by supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party following the arrest of their party leader in a corruption case.

On May 9, PTI workers unleashed a wave of chaos as they resorted to aggressive protests. The situation took a turn for the worse when they trespassed into cantonment areas and targeted military installations, including the residence of the Lahore Corps Commanders. Additionally, several monuments were set ablaze, and there was an attempted attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ). The severity of the incidents prompted the police to launch an operation to apprehend the individuals responsible for the violence against military and public properties.

Utilizing advanced technology and analyzing video footage circulating on social media, law enforcement agencies have identified multiple suspects involved in the aforementioned attacks. The recent arrests of former MPA Farhat Farooq and Awais Mushtaq indicate progress in the ongoing investigation.

In the aftermath of the May 9 protests, the police have already taken several female PTI workers into custody in connection with the acts of violence witnessed during the demonstrations. These arrests reflect the authorities’ determination to hold accountable all those responsible for the attacks on military installations and public property.

As the legal proceedings against Farhat Farooq and other suspects progress, it remains to be seen how the investigation will unfold. The police will likely continue their efforts to identify and apprehend additional individuals involved in the Jinnah House attack and other related incidents.
