In a significant development, the Lahore police have made claims that the individuals arrested on terrorism charges from Zaman Park had connections with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership. The Punjab police, while disclosing the identities of the detained “terrorists,” alleged that Bakhat Alam and Mumtaz Mardan were in contact with PTI’s leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Another individual named Azizul Ghani, hailing from Swat, was reportedly receiving directions from the PTI as well. Additionally, the police claimed that Abdul Ghafoor, Zohaib, and Aijaz, residents of Uchra, Shahdara, and Misri Shah respectively, were taking instructions from PTI Senator Aijaz Chaudhry.

Furthermore, investigations have revealed that the arrested “terrorists,” Nabeel and Hunzla, also had connections with the PTI leadership. These findings raise serious questions about the involvement of PTI members with individuals engaged in terrorist activities.

In a separate incident, the Punjab Police announced the arrest of six more alleged terrorists who were attempting to flee from the Zaman Park residence of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. With these latest apprehensions, the total number of arrests from the area has reached 14. According to the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Saddique Kamyana, four of the detained suspects were involved in the attack on Askari Tower, while two were among those who vandalized the Corps Commander House in Lahore (also known as Jinnah House).

The arrests shed light on the alarming situation of terrorism in the region, and the alleged connection between the apprehended individuals and PTI’s leadership raises concerns about the party’s stance on security matters. The revelations highlight the urgent need for a thorough investigation to determine the extent of the involvement of PTI members, if any, in facilitating or supporting terrorism.

Law enforcement agencies must conduct a comprehensive inquiry to ascertain the nature of the communication between the arrested individuals and PTI leaders. It is essential to establish whether the contacts were incidental or if there was a more significant association between the two parties. The credibility and integrity of the PTI, as a prominent political entity, are at stake, necessitating a transparent and unbiased investigation into these claims.

The PTI leadership has yet to issue an official statement addressing the allegations and the recent arrests. It is crucial for the party to provide clarity on the matter and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to facilitate a fair investigation.

The case highlights the need for continuous vigilance and stringent measures to combat terrorism. The authorities must remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public, and any association with terrorist elements, regardless of political affiliations, should be dealt with swiftly and transparently.
