Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has called for a security operation in Balochistan to counter militant elements disrupting peace and development in the province.

Speaking on a political talk show, Sanaullah said that while his party has cordial ties with senior politician Malik Baloch, past efforts to offer amnesty to insurgents have failed to yield results.

“Malik Baloch initially advocated for pardoning those who went to the mountains, but we tried granting amnesty, and it achieved nothing,” he stated.

He harshly criticized the militant attacks in the region, referring to incidents where innocent passengers were dragged off buses and killed. “Such elements do not want Balochistan to develop. The only viable response is a comprehensive security operation,” he stressed.

Rana Sanaullah also addressed the political situation surrounding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder. He reiterated the government’s openness to dialogue, provided the PTI founder shows genuine interest in political engagement.

He further remarked, “The PTI founder’s sons have every right to visit their father,” signaling a softer tone on the issue of personal family rights amid political tensions.

Touching on the recent sugar crisis in Pakistan, the political adviser pointed fingers at middlemen who, according to him, artificially created a false shortage to drive prices up and maximize profits.

“The rise in sugar prices to Rs200 per kg is due to market manipulation by middlemen,” he explained.

He revealed that sugar exports were permitted only after mill owners assured the government there would be no domestic shortfall. “Despite these assurances, a crisis still emerged,” Sanaullah added, noting that the Prime Minister did not give any concessions to those responsible.

“This appears to be a coordinated act, not the fault of a single person,” he said.

The comments come at a time when the federal government faces mounting pressure over inflation, law and order in Balochistan, and ongoing political polarization.
