Pakpattan police have arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Malik Ijaz following a complaint against him for slapping a woman during a raid in 39/SP village on July 12. The incident came to public attention 25 days later after a video of the encounter went viral on social media, prompting widespread outrage.
According to authorities, ASI Ijaz, posted at Chowki Farid Town, was conducting a raid at the house of Amina Akram, a divorced woman allegedly involved in a dispute with her ex-husband, Shabbir Ahmed, a motorcycle mechanic. Amina, along with two men, Muzamil and Munir, were accused of illegally occupying Shabbir’s property and stealing tools and Rs500,000 in cash.
During the raid, Amina reportedly locked herself inside the house. ASI Ijaz entered from a neighboring property, leading to a heated confrontation during which he slapped her.

Following the video’s release, FIR No. 1260/25 was registered against ASI Ijaz under sections 354 and 155-C of the Pakistan Penal Code, on the complaint of Saddar Police Station House Officer Khizer Hayat. The DPO, Javed Chadhar, oversaw the action against the officer.
