A man in Shah Di Khui area in Lahore was arrested on Friday after his pet lion escaped and attacked a family in a nearby street, leaving two children critically injured.

Authorities identified the owner as Malik Bahram, who was keeping the wild animal without a valid license. Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him under sections of the Wildlife Act and attempted murder. Two other individuals, Malik Azam Shani and Malik Ghulam Murtaza, were also named in connection with the incident.

The attack took place at a farmhouse in Johar Town, where the lion reportedly broke free from an unsecure enclosure, scaled a wall, and mauled several members of a neighbouring household. The injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital, where medical staff confirmed that two children remained in critical condition.

Officials from the Punjab Wildlife Department seized the lion and relocated it to a sanctuary. The department noted that keeping wild animals like lions without a license is a non-bailable offence, punishable by up to seven years in jail and a fine of Rs5 million.
