Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reached out to leaders of various political parties to discuss the worsening flood and rain emergency, assuring them of the federal government’s full cooperation in rescue and relief efforts.

In a telephone call with Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the prime minister expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and widespread damage caused by torrential rains and urban flooding in southern Sindh, particularly Karachi. He pledged the federal government’s full support to help the Sindh government manage the crisis and provide immediate assistance to the affected population.

Shehbaz Sharif also instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to stay in close coordination with provincial authorities, extend all necessary help to the Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority, and ensure timely early warnings about possible risks from ongoing and upcoming rains.

The prime minister spoke with Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, appreciating the role of Al-Khidmat Foundation in rescue and relief operations during the recent floods in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

He also held a telephonic discussion with MQM-Pakistan convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui regarding the rain emergency in Sindh and the possible threats of further downpours, assuring that the NDMA and federal institutions would remain engaged to deal with any emergency situation.

By reaching out to political opponents and allies alike, the premier sought to build a collective response to the crisis, emphasizing that the safety and relief of the people must remain the top priority.
