All Public and Private School Remain Closed till monday

In response to a concerning surge in Pink Eye infections across Punjab, both government and private schools in the province will remain closed tomorrow, as announced by the Punjab caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi. This decisive measure is aimed at curbing the spread of the contagious eye infection, also known as conjunctivitis, which has been on the rise in the region.

The decision to temporarily shutter schools underscores the seriousness of the situation, as health authorities grapple with an increasing number of Pink Eye cases in Punjab and other parts of the country. The Punjab Health Department reported a worrisome 85 new cases of conjunctivitis within the past 24 hours alone.

To mitigate the spread of Pink Eye, teachers have been directed to conduct thorough checks of students at the main entrances of schools, starting from Monday. This proactive approach seeks to identify potential cases early and prevent further transmission of the infection.

In response to the outbreak, the Punjab Health Department has issued guidelines to educate the public on how to protect themselves and reduce the risk of contracting Pink Eye. Patients diagnosed with conjunctivitis are advised to use prescribed eye drops and tissues for cleansing their eyes, with the additional option of using cold water for temporary relief.

Furthermore, the health department emphasizes the importance of maintaining proper hand hygiene, urging individuals to use hand sanitizers and avoid touching their eyes without first washing their hands thoroughly. Sharing personal items with those afflicted by eye infections, such as pillows, clothes, medication, and bedding, is discouraged and should be strictly avoided. The health department’s guidance highlights the necessity of keeping these items separate to prevent potential transmission.

As Pink Eye continues to pose a public health concern, it is essential for individuals to stay informed, take preventive measures, and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms arise. By adhering to the recommended guidelines and maintaining strict personal hygiene, the public can contribute to controlling the spread of Pink Eye in their communities.

The decision to temporarily close schools in Punjab serves as a precautionary measure to safeguard the health and well-being of students and staff, and it underscores the authorities’ commitment to tackling public health challenges promptly and effectively.
