Pakistan Condemns India’s Crackdown on Kashmiri Parties

Pakistan strongly condemned India’s recent decision to label the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League and four factions of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League as “unlawful associations.” Additionally, Pakistan criticized the extension of the ban on the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (Yasin Malik faction) for another five years, as stated by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in a press release.

The actions taken by India in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) were denounced by Pakistan for violating international human rights, humanitarian law, and democratic principles. The spokesperson emphasized the need for India to lift restrictions on the banned Kashmiri parties, release political prisoners like Yasin Malik, and adhere to UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

The recent notifications have rendered a total of 14 Kashmiri political parties illegal in the IIOJK, leading to persecution of their affiliates. Notably, Yasin Malik, who was sentenced to life in 2022, now faces a death penalty. Despite these oppressive measures, Pakistan reiterated that the aspirations of the Kashmiri people for self-determination, as outlined in UN Security Council Resolutions, cannot be suppressed.

The statement underscored the resilience of the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of self-determination, despite India’s repressive tactics. Pakistan’s call for upholding human rights, releasing political prisoners, and respecting international resolutions reflects its commitment to advocating for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
