New toll rates announced for Lahore-Islamabad Motorway

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has increased the motorway toll for the Lahore-Islamabad M2 route. The new toll rates will apply from August 26, 2025, and remain valid until August 25, 2026.

This increase comes under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement with the Frontier Works Organization’s subsidiary, Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited. As per the agreement signed in 2014, toll charges rise by 10% every year to cover maintenance and operational costs of the country’s busiest motorway.

The updated toll rates for the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) are as follows:

  • Cars, Jeeps, Taxis (Class 1): Rs1,330 (Rs3.72/km)
  • Wagons (Class 2): Rs2,240 (Rs6.24/km)
  • Buses: Rs3,130 (Rs8.73/km)
  • 2-Axle Trucks (Class 4): Rs4,460 (Rs12.45/km)
  • 3-Axle Trucks (Class 5): Rs5,800 (Rs16.20/km)
  • Articulated Trucks (Class 6): Rs7,460 (Rs20.83/km)

The M2 is one of Pakistan’s most important highways, connecting Lahore and Islamabad. The new toll rates are expected to directly impact daily travelers, transport companies, and intercity commuters.
