Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has voiced support for the construction of the Kalabagh Dam, calling it a project of national interest rather than provincial politics. Speaking to senior journalists, he said that if the dam had been built earlier, much of the recent flood destruction could have been avoided.
He added that his government had already launched dam projects in Lakki Marwat and Karak and planned new ones in Peshawar.

Gandapur also said Afghan nationals should be granted Pakistani citizenship, arguing that past policies had created hostility with Afghanistan.
He noted that despite billions being spent, Afghans were still being expelled after decades. He offered medical aid for Afghan earthquake victims and highlighted a student visa scheme initiated on his request.
Turning to security, the chief minister criticized the lack of resources for police, saying there was not a single sniper rifle in the entire province and no bulletproof vehicles for officers. He said his government had ordered 50 bulletproof vehicles and demanded more federal support to strengthen law enforcement.
