Around 250,000 Pakistanis have completed their mandatory registration for Hajj 2026 ahead of the final deadline, which ends today, Wednesday, according to state media.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs had opened the Hajj registration process last month, giving applicants until July 9 to sign up. Only those who register within this period will be eligible to perform Hajj next year under either the government or private Hajj schemes.

Registrations have been carried out through 15 designated banks, with no fee required at this initial stage. Applicants could also complete the process online. The Hajj 2026 expenses and policy details are expected to be announced later.

The Associated Press of Pakistan reported on Tuesday that a quarter of a million people had already registered. Officials reminded the public that registration is also compulsory for Pakistanis living abroad or those who missed out under this year’s private Hajj scheme.

Pakistan received a quota of 179,210 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2025, which was divided equally between the government and private operators.

While the government fully utilized its share, private companies struggled to meet deadlines due to technical issues, leaving a large part of their quota unused.
