Govt increases petrol price by Rs1 per litre

The federal govt has raised petrol price by Rs1 per litre effective June 1. Petrol now costs Rs253.63, while high-speed diesel remains at Rs254.64.

The federal government has announced a Rs1 per litre increase in petrol price, effective Sunday, June 1, raising the new rate to Rs253.63 per litre, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) remains unchanged at Rs254.64 per litre, the same as it was set during the last price adjustment on May 16.

This minor adjustment in petrol price comes as part of the government’s regular fortnightly fuel price review, driven by global oil trends and domestic pricing mechanisms.

Current Fuel Prices (Effective June 1):

  • Petrol: Rs253.63/litre (↑ Rs1)

  • High-Speed Diesel: Rs254.64/litre (No change)

Previously, on May 15, the government had kept petrol prices unchanged at Rs252.63/litre and slightly reduced diesel prices by Rs2/litre.

The next price revision is expected on June 15, depending on international oil markets and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
