Passport fees are expected to remain unchanged in the federal budget for the fiscal year 2025–26, officials from the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports indicated.
The decision not to raise fees comes as a relief to the public amid growing inflation and rising service charges in other sectors.

Authorities explained that passport charges had already been revised last year, and there is currently no recommendation under review to increase them again.
This development is particularly significant as citizens continue to face financial pressure from increased living costs.
The current fees vary depending on the validity period and number of pages requested. For passports valid for five years, a 36-page normal passport costs Rs.5,500, while an urgent one is priced at Rs.8,500.
