YouTuber Rajab Butt Gets Bail Extension in Gambling App Promotion Case

In a closely watched legal case, a sessions court has extended the interim bail of Rajab Butt in connection with the alleged illegal promotion of a gambling application. The decision has drawn public attention, especially among social media users and content creators, as the case highlights growing scrutiny over online promotions and digital advertising in Pakistan.

The hearing was conducted by Additional Sessions Judge Zulfiqar Ahmed, where Rajab Butt appeared along with co-accused Nadeem Mubarak. After reviewing the case proceedings, the court extended their interim bail until April 28, giving them temporary relief from arrest.

However, the hearing could not move forward as planned due to the absence of key officials, including the investigation officer and the prosecutor from National Cyber Crime Investigation. As a result, the court postponed further proceedings and instructed both officials to ensure their presence at the next hearing to avoid further delays.

The case was originally registered by the cybercrime authority, accusing the individuals of promoting the “Joy” gambling app, which is considered illegal under Pakistani law. Authorities claim that such promotions violate regulations and may encourage unlawful online betting activities.

Legal experts believe that this case could set an important precedent regarding the responsibilities of influencers and digital creators when promoting apps and services online. With the rapid growth of social media platforms, concerns over unethical promotions and online scams have also increased.

The next hearing is expected to provide further clarity as authorities continue their investigation into the allegations.
