Countdown to Ramadan 2026 Begins

As the year 2025 comes to an end, Muslims around the world have started preparing for the holy month of Ramadan. As of December 31, 2025, there are around 50 days left before Ramadan is expected to begin. This special time is known for fasting, prayer, charity, and spiritual reflection.

Ramadan follows the Islamic lunar calendar, which is based on the moon. Because of this, the month starts about 11 days earlier each year compared to the Gregorian calendar. The exact beginning always depends on the sighting of the crescent moon (Hilal).

According to current expectations, Ramadan 2026 is likely to start on Wednesday, February 18, or Thursday, February 19, 2026. The final confirmation will only be made after the moon is sighted.

Different regions may begin Ramadan on slightly different dates. In Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Ramadan is most likely to begin on February 19, 2026. In Pakistan and India, the start date is also expected to be February 19. Meanwhile, in countries like the UK, USA, and Canada, Ramadan may begin between February 18 and 20, depending on moon sightings.

One of the most important nights of Ramadan is Laylat al-Qadr, also known as the Night of Power. It is believed to fall on the 27th night of Ramadan, which is expected to be around March 16 or 17, 2026. This night holds great spiritual value, and prayers made on this night are considered especially powerful.

Ramadan is expected to end on Friday, March 20, 2026. Following this, Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Fitr, which is likely to fall on March 20 or 21, 2026, again depending on the sighting of the moon for Shawwal.

As the countdown continues, families and communities are beginning to prepare spiritually and practically for this blessed month.
