A senior former official of the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA), Moazzam Supra, has been dismissed from service following a workplace harassment inquiry.

The decision came after the Punjab Ombudsperson found credible evidence supporting allegations made by Fareeha Aram, a former Assistant Director Land Records.

Aram accused Supra of persistent inappropriate behaviour during her tenure at the authority.

The investigation concluded that Supra engaged in repeated misconduct, including summoning Aram to his office under false pretences, intimidation, and retaliatory actions when she resisted his advances.

The inquiry also revealed that Aram endured extended periods of mental harassment, unlawful confinement, and degrading treatment by her superior.

These acts were found to violate workplace ethics and laws designed to protect employees from harassment.

The Punjab Ombudsperson has ordered immediate enforcement of Supra’s dismissal and called on authorities to implement the decision without delay.

This case has sparked widespread concern over the misuse of power within public institutions. It is being seen as a significant test case for the enforcement of anti-harassment laws in Punjab.

Rights groups and civil society have welcomed the ruling, calling it a step toward safer working environments in government departments and a warning to others in positions of authority.
