Zahid Ahmed Apologizes After Controversial Social Media Remarks

Pakistani actor Zahid Ahmed has apologized after facing strong criticism for his recent comments about social media. His remarks came during Ahmad Ali Butt’s podcast “Excuse Me” on November 1, where Zahid harshly condemned social media and said its creators “will burn in hell.”

The statement quickly went viral, with many people especially influencers believing that Zahid was attacking content creators. Social media platforms were soon flooded with angry reactions and criticism from both fans and fellow celebrities.

On Monday, Zahid released a clarification video in which he expressed regret over his words. “I said they would go to hell, and I am very ashamed,” he admitted. “Only God has the right to decide such things. My words were aimed at the creators of social media platforms, not at the people who make content.”

He went on to say that his statement was irresponsible, particularly because many young followers look up to him for religious advice. Zahid promised to be more careful with his words in the future. During the podcast, Zahid had called social media “the most evil and destructive invention,” saying it promotes arrogance, self-projection, and immodesty. He added that social media should be used only for business purposes, not for showing off or comparing lives.

Several influencers, including Ken Doll and Alishbah Anjum, criticized Zahid’s comments, calling them hypocritical, since he also uses social media to promote his work.

Zahid’s apology has brought some calm to the situation, though debate continues online. Many fans appreciated his humility, while others urged him to choose his words more wisely reminding everyone that influence comes with responsibility.
