KARACHI – In a tragic and deeply disturbing development, the weeks-old decomposed body of model and actress Humaira Asghar remains unclaimed in Karachi as her father has refused to collect the remains, police confirmed on Wednesday.
According to SHO Gizri Farooq Sanjrani, police managed to contact Humaira’s father using numbers retrieved from her mobile phone. However, he flatly refused to come to Karachi, stating that he had cut all ties with his daughter long ago.

“We have nothing to do with Humaira,” the father reportedly told police after being urged by her brother to reconsider.
Despite efforts to convince him, the father has not contacted police again, leaving the body in official custody and delaying legal and burial procedures.
Humaira Asghar’s body was discovered several days after her death in her rented flat in DHA Phase 6. According to police sources, she had been living alone in Karachi for the past seven years and had not paid rent since 2024. Her body was found by a bailiff, who visited the apartment as part of legal proceedings initiated by the landlord.

The cause of death remains unknown, and authorities say the ongoing investigation is being hindered due to the family’s refusal to come forward. As per legal protocols, the body cannot be released or buried without formal identification and acceptance by immediate family members.
SHO Sanjrani told reporters, “This has delayed the process. We are still hoping the family comes forward soon so we can proceed with the formalities.”
