Faysal Quraishi’s latest drama Raaja Rani is under fire even before its release — and it’s not for the storyline. Fans are calling out the casting and dance sequences, questioning the actor’s choice of role.

In the teaser for the upcoming series Raaja Rani, Quraishi appears in a flashy, Bollywood-style dance sequence alongside co-star Hina Afridi. But what was intended as a romantic, youthful portrayal has triggered widespread criticism on social media.

Viewers were quick to point out the noticeable age gap between the seasoned actor and his younger co-star. Many are criticizing the Pakistani entertainment industry’s recurring trend of pairing middle-aged male leads with significantly younger female counterparts.

Among the most biting online comments:

  • “They look like father and daughter, not a couple.”

  • “Why is Faysal Quraishi trying to play a college boy?”

  • “He’s a brilliant actor — he should stick to more mature roles like Chinnar Khan.”

The teaser’s dance sequence has also been met with ridicule:

  • “This feels like a parody of Gerua from Daraz.”

  • “He should be doing complex characters, not mimicking Bollywood rom-coms.”

  • “Is this a romantic drama or a spoof show?”

The early response has been largely negative, with many viewers expressing disappointment and frustration over the direction of Quraishi’s recent projects. While the full drama has yet to air, the teaser alone has set the tone for what could be a challenging reception.

Only time will tell if Raaja Rani wins over the audience with its storyline — or becomes another example of tone-deaf casting in Pakistani television.
