In response to the ongoing and intensifying heatwave across the region, Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that all public and private schools in the province will begin their summer vacation earlier than previously scheduled.

Originally slated to commence on June 1, the summer holidays will now officially start from May 28, a move aimed at protecting students from the adverse effects of extreme heat. The decision was made after temperatures in several areas of the province soared to dangerous levels, raising serious health concerns for children.

To further reduce the impact of the heat in the days leading up to the break, the minister also introduced revised school hours. With immediate effect, all schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM until May 27.
