According to reports, a notification regarding the summer break has been issued, although it is not yet visible on the official website of the department. The decision aims to safeguard the health and well-being of students, teachers, and parents amid intensifying heat.

Khalid Nazir Wattoo, Secretary of School Education, told the media that the schedule could be revised further if weather conditions deteriorate.

“If the temperature rises unusually, the holidays may begin a week earlier,” he noted

Wattoo emphasised that the department’s decision stems from the growing concerns surrounding climate change and its visible impact on daily life, including the education sector. He stated that extreme heat can hinder academic activities, particularly for young children.

He also pointed out that Pakistan remains among the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world. Rising temperatures, changing weather patterns, and an increased frequency of natural disasters are being felt more acutely each year, causing disruptions in education, health, and other essential sectors.
