Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has marked a significant milestone in its commitment to social development with the celebration of its Shaheen Program — a unique initiative aimed at enhancing women’s mobility and independence.

Launched to promote gender equality and remove barriers to women’s freedom of movement, the Shaheen Program offers structured training in both driving and motorbike riding. Out of 600 applicants, 120 women were selected for intensive sessions, and 92 participants successfully completed the training, receiving their driving licenses.

A certificate distribution ceremony was held at PSO’s headquarters to honour the graduates. Speaking on the occasion, PSO Chief Financial Officer Ms Gulzar Khoja commended the determination and resilience of the participants. Senior management joined in recognising the impact of the program, which has equipped women with vital skills to navigate their personal and professional lives with confidence.

The initiative reflects PSO’s broader vision of social inclusion and empowerment. By giving women the tools to become mobile and independent, the company aims to unlock new opportunities in education, employment, and civic participation.

Officials noted that the Shaheen Program is not only a skills-building effort but a step towards reshaping societal perceptions about women’s roles in public spaces. It empowers women to break stereotypes and embrace autonomy, inspiring others to follow.

PSO’s leadership reaffirmed their commitment to expanding such initiatives that go beyond business, aiming to foster a more equitable society. The success of the Shaheen Program highlights the transformative power of access to mobility, and the company’s belief in investing in human potential, especially that of women.

As the program’s graduates take to the roads, they also carry forward a message of courage, capability, and progress — symbolising a journey towards a more inclusive Pakistan.
