Gujranwala knife attack Palestinian students

Two Palestinian students studying at Gujranwala Medical College were subjected to a knife attack by unidentified assailants in the Aroop police precincts of Gujranwala. The attack occurred on Sunday when the students, identified as Khaldoon Alsheikh and Abdul Karim, intervened to protect a female student from harassment by the miscreants.

The violent assault took place in their apartment on the 4th floor of Platinum Tower. The assailants, whose identities remain unknown, inflicted multiple wounds on both Alsheikh and Karim. Fortunately, the injured students received assistance from their neighbors, who promptly came to their aid.

After the attack, the injured students were transported to Gujranwala District Headquarters Hospital by Rescue 1122. At the hospital, medical staff tended to their injuries, and it was reported that their conditions had stabilized.

The Gujranwala police have taken swift action in response to the incident. A case has been registered against four named suspects, including Sufian, Rafay Butt, Hamza, and others, along with three unidentified accomplices. The case has been filed under sections 324, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Police authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

Sources within the police have indicated that prior to the attack, there were reports of female foreign students facing harassment by individuals from the local community. The victims had taken a stand against this misconduct and had forbidden the perpetrators from continuing their inappropriate behavior. In response to this intervention, the suspects launched the violent assault on the Palestinian students.

This alarming incident highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and security of all students, especially international students who have come to Pakistan to pursue their education. It is imperative that such acts of violence are thoroughly investigated, and the perpetrators are brought to justice.
