ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has officially launched a counter-offensive military operation titled Bunyan Marsoos in response to a series of missile attacks by India on key Pakistani airbases, including Nur Khan, Shorkot, and Murid. The move marks a serious escalation in hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

State broadcaster PTV News confirmed the launch of the operation, citing security sources who revealed that the counter-strikes were already underway and targeted multiple Indian military facilities involved in the initial aggression.

The escalation follows Indian missile strikes in the early hours of Saturday, which specifically targeted strategic installations of the Pakistan Air Force. The attacks immediately prompted heightened military readiness across the country.

Operation Bunyan Marsoos: Developments So Far

According to credible defence sources, the Pakistan Armed Forces have begun targeting all Indian bases that were allegedly used to carry out missile launches and attacks on Pakistani territory, including areas housing civilians and religious sites.

In a significant development, Pakistan confirmed the destruction of a BrahMos missile storage facility located in Beas, a key site reportedly involved in the earlier Indian strikes. The Udhampur airbase and the airfield in Pathankot have also been declared “destroyed” as a result of the counter-offensive.

Earlier, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry issued a stern warning to India following the initial missile attacks. He stated that while all Pakistan Air Force (PAF) assets were safe and most missiles had been intercepted, Pakistan reserved the right to respond “at the time and place of its choosing.”
