Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has issued a firm warning to India, declaring that any act of aggression will be met with a decisive response aimed directly at India’s military installations.

In an exclusive interview with British news agency Reuters, Asif condemned recent Indian drone incursions, stating that such provocations have significantly increased the likelihood of a Pakistani military retaliation. He clarified that no military facility in Lahore sustained damage, but emphasized that India’s actions have further deteriorated bilateral relations.

“There’s little hope for de-escalation following the latest Indian aggression. The dispute between Pakistan and India appears to be heading into a dead end,” Asif warned, highlighting the fragile nature of regional stability.

The Defence Minister also revealed that the United States is actively engaged in mediation efforts, attempting to de-escalate tensions through diplomatic channels on the international stage.

In a related statement to the same agency, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that direct communication has taken place between the National Security Advisors (NSAs) of both countries. While withholding specific details, he acknowledged that backchannel diplomacy is ongoing, aimed at preventing further military escalation.

These developments mark a critical juncture in Pakistan-India relations, with the region closely monitoring the evolving situation.
