Pakistan is celebrating Eidul Azha today (Saturday) with religious zeal and fervour, commemorating the timeless sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS).
The day began with special Eid prayers across mosques, Eidgahs, and open grounds throughout the country. Worshippers prayed for the well-being of the Muslim Ummah, as well as peace and prosperity for Pakistan.
Following the prayers, citizens began the ritual of animal sacrifice, reviving the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Sacrificial meat is being distributed among relatives, neighbors, and those in need, highlighting the spirit of sharing and compassion.
President Asif Ali Zardari offered Eid prayers in Islamabad, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif performed prayers at Model Town Mosque in Lahore.

In their separate Eid messages, both leaders congratulated the nation and the global Muslim community, urging all to embody the values of sacrifice, devotion, unity, and love.
“This day revives in us the spirit of faith, sacrifice, selflessness, and brotherhood,” said President Zardari. “It commemorates the ultimate obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS). May Allah make this day a source of blessings for the Muslim Ummah.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, expressed solidarity with the oppressed people in Palestine and Kashmir and called upon the nation to remember them in prayers.
“These blessed days remind us of the unwavering faith and sacrifice shown by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS). May Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices and bring peace to the Muslim world,” the Prime Minister stated.
Eidul Azha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the two major Islamic festivals. It marks the culmination of Hajj and honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
