Srinagar: A three-day strike has been announced in Indian-occupied Kashmir to protest against the opening of liquor shops in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian authorities’ decision to allow the sale of alcohol in the occupied territory has been strongly condemned by the Kashmiri public, who termed it a blatant disregard for the Islamic traditions of the region. They stated that opening liquor shops is a direct assault on the religious and cultural identity of the Valley.
Kashmiris believe that promoting alcohol consumption in a Muslim-majority region is aimed at encouraging immoral behavior.

Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has expressed deep concern over the opening of liquor outlets in Srinagar, calling it an attack on the faith, culture, and civilization of Kashmiri Muslims.
Kashmiri traders have announced a three-day shutdown in protest, stating that the move is completely unacceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir
