Sweden has resumed its visa services in Islamabad, allowing applications for short-term Schengen visas to visit the country for up to 90 days.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision was made following Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Sweden, held in Stockholm on July 2, 2025.

The Pakistani delegation was headed by the Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe, while the Swedish side was led by the Director General for Global Affairs.

The visa services will officially reopen from July 7, enabling Pakistani citizens to apply directly from within the country. The move is expected to ease travel for tourism, business, and family visits, while also strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations.

The Foreign Office welcomed the announcement, describing it as a step forward in deepening bilateral cooperation and engagement. Officials expressed hope that this reopening will enhance exchanges in areas such as education, culture, and trade.

The visa resumption comes after a suspension that had impacted travel between the two countries. While no specific reason had been publicly cited for the earlier halt, the revival of services is being seen as a reflection of improved diplomatic relations.
