Korean skincare, also known as K-beauty, has become a worldwide trend, loved by people for its glowing and healthy results. What started as a local beauty routine in South Korea has now turned into a global phenomenon.
K-beauty first gained international attention in the 2010s, alongside the rise of K-pop and K-dramas, which helped spread Korean culture across the world. The skincare routine is known for being detailed and effective sometimes including up to 10 steps, with each product serving a different purpose such as cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and protecting the skin.
As more people became interested in Korean skincare, sales skyrocketed. South Korea’s beauty exports grew from $650 million in 2011 to $4 billion in 2017, and reached $10.3 billion in 2024. This incredible growth made South Korea one of the biggest beauty exporters in the world.
However, as K-beauty became more popular, many non-Korean companies started launching their own “K-beauty inspired” products. This has created some confusion among buyers, as not all items labeled “K-beauty” are actually made in Korea.
Still, the essence of K-beauty innovation, self-care, and natural glow continues to inspire skincare lovers everywhere.
