Scientists have made an amazing discovery in Dewars Farm Quarry in England, huge dinosaur footprints that are shocking in size!
“These footprints are insanely big,” said Emma Nicholls from Oxford University’s Museum of Natural History. She explained that they belong to a sauropod dinosaur, most likely a Cetiosaurus a massive, long-necked dinosaur that once lived in the area millions of years ago.
Dewars Farm Quarry has been a special place for dinosaur lovers for many years. Back in the 1990s, researchers already found some dinosaur trackways there. Then, just last year, they discovered around 200 giant footprints spread across the quarry floor.
But this year’s finding is even more exciting. Scientists have now uncovered another set of tracks in a different part of the quarry. These footprints stretch a long way about 220 meters from one end to the other making it one of the longest dinosaur trackways ever discovered!
According to Dr. Kirsty Edgar from the University of Birmingham, “We’re uncovering something that people have never seen before.” She added that it’s extremely rare to find dinosaur footprints of this size and in such good condition.
The dinosaurs that left these marks were huge, four legged, plant eaters with long necks and tails. They could grow up to 18 meters long as long as a big school bus!
This discovery helps scientists learn more about how these ancient giants lived and moved across the land. Each footprint is like a window into the past, showing us a time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth.
