A former nursery worker from London has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to dozens of serious crimes. The 45 year old man, identified as Vincent Chan, was sentenced on February 12, 2026, in the United Kingdom.
The court heard that the offences took place over nearly 20 years. He admitted to 56 sexual offences. These included the sexual assault of very young children, some as young as two years old. The charges also included voyeurism and creating indecent images.
Chan had worked in childcare roles for many years. From 2007 to 2017, he was employed as a teaching assistant at a primary school in Barnet. After that, he worked as a practitioner at Bright Horizons nursery in West Hampstead from 2017 until 2024.
According to court details, his crimes were uncovered after an investigation by authorities. The judge described the offences as extremely serious and said the sentence reflected the harm caused to the victims and their families.
In addition to the 18-year prison term, Chan will also serve eight years on extended license after his release. This means he will remain under strict supervision.
The case has shocked the local community and raised concerns about child safety and background checks in childcare settings.
