Saudi Arabia and several Arab countries are celebrating Eid al-Adha today (Friday), marking one of the holiest occasions in the Islamic calendar.
Massive congregations for Eid prayers were held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, where worshippers gathered in large numbers to offer special prayers.
Following the Eid prayers, Hajj pilgrims began returning from Muzdalifah to Mina to perform the ritual of Ramy al-Jamarat (stoning of the devil), symbolizing the rejection of evil. Pilgrims will also perform animal sacrifice, shave or trim their hair, and remove their Ihram, completing the essential rites of Hajj.

The Saudi leadership received Eid greetings from leaders of various Islamic nations, acknowledging the Kingdom’s efforts in facilitating Hajj for over 1.6 million pilgrims this year.
On Thursday, pilgrims observed Wuquf-e-Arafat, the central pillar of Hajj, with a special prayer led by Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah at Masjid Namira. The Imam offered heartfelt supplications, including a prayer for the victory of Palestinians: “O Allah, make our brothers in Palestine victorious over the enemy.”
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and willingness to sacrifice in obedience to Allah’s command.
