A sudden and intense downpour over the Margalla Hills on Monday led to flash floods in Islamabad’s Saidpur village, causing panic among locals and tourists.
The powerful rainfall, part of the ongoing monsoon spell, unleashed torrents of water through the narrow streets near the popular Des Pardes restaurant, catching many off guard.
Videos posted online show vehicles being swept away by the floodwaters, while water surged into homes and shops, leaving residents rushing for safety.
Sanitation teams were quickly dispatched to the area to drain water that had pooled in low-lying spots, largely due to illegal encroachments obstructing natural drainage routes. Authorities have stated that these illegal structures will be demolished once weather conditions improve.

Officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said an operation to remove encroachments is underway and will continue until all blockages are cleared to prevent future flooding.
The incident comes as Punjab remains under a flood warning, with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) cautioning that the monsoon wave may persist until July 25, potentially causing more flash floods in low-lying and hilly regions.
