Emergency: CDA activates

Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms and rainfall in parts of the country on Monday, May 26, particularly during the evening and night hours. Despite the prediction of hot and dry weather across most regions during the day, northern and southeastern areas are expected to see a shift in conditions later.

According to the Met Office, rain and thunder are likely in Islamabad and nearby regions including Rawalpindi, Murree, Chakwal, and the Potohar plateau. Several districts in Punjab — such as Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Sargodha — are also expected to receive rainfall.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, showers are likely in cities including Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, and Bannu, with possible thunderstorms in areas like Haripur. Parts of Balochistan, such as Quetta, Zhob, and Khuzdar, may also experience rain.

Meanwhile, most districts in Sindh are likely to continue facing extremely hot and dry weather, with no immediate signs of relief.

Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan could see strong winds and thunderstorms, with the possibility of heavy rain and isolated hailstorms in some places.

Authorities have advised the public to stay cautious during unstable weather, especially in regions prone to landslides and flash flooding.
