The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted the arrival of a fresh monsoon spell beginning Monday, with heavy rainfall likely in several parts of the country. Authorities have raised concerns over the possibility of flash floods in streams, rivers, and urban flooding in low-lying areas.

Rain is forecast from July 28 to 31 in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab, while Balochistan is expected to receive showers from July 29 to 31. Sindh may experience rainfall on July 30 and 31. Some regions could face intense downpours, increasing the risk of flooding and landslides in mountainous areas. Tourists and commuters have been urged to monitor weather conditions before planning travel.

Meanwhile, in Gilgit-Baltistan, flash floods have already caused widespread damage. A powerful surge in the Hunza River entered Danyore, destroying homes, trees, and farmland. In Chilas Thak Babusar, entire villages have been washed away, leaving many residents without shelter.

Livestock shelters, crops, and connecting roads have also been destroyed, severely affecting the livelihoods of the local population. Rescue teams from the Pakistan Army, Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts, and other agencies are carrying out search and relief operations. Advanced radar equipment is being used to locate missing persons in difficult terrain.
