More Monsoon Rains Expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more monsoon rains in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several other regions of the country on Friday night and Saturday.

According to the PMD, a seasonal low over north Balochistan, combined with monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and a prevailing westerly wave, will bring rain to the twin cities, northeastern Punjab, Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 28°C and 30°C over the weekend, while Rawalpindi’s maximum will range from 29°C to 31°C.

The PMD reported that during the past 24 hours, muggy weather persisted in most parts of the country, though rainfall was recorded in the twin cities, northeastern Punjab, Potohar region, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rainfall highlights (mm):

  • Punjab: Sialkot City 78, Islamabad (Golra 41, Bokra 13, Saidpur 3, City 1), Rawalpindi (Katcheri 26, Gawalmandi 16, Pirwidahi 8, Chaklala 1), Attock 25, Chakwal & Gujranwala 23, Mangla 12, Jhelum 10, Gujrat 8, Narowal 5, Mandi Bahauddin 1

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Parachinar 35, Malam Jabba 7, Kalam & Cherat 3, Dir 2, Kakul 1

  • Kashmir: Garhi Dupatta 23, Rawalakot 3

Dalbandin, Dadu, and Sibbi remained the hottest locations in Pakistan with a maximum temperature of 44°C, while Nokundi and Bhakkar recorded 43°C.

Relative humidity in the evening stood at 81% in Islamabad and 75% in Rawalpindi.
