Intermittent rainfall continued across Lahore on Wednesday, offering much-needed relief from the sweltering July heat. The showers led to a noticeable dip in temperatures, improving comfort for residents amid typically hot and humid conditions.
According to Akhtar Mehmood, Deputy Director of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Lahore, the current weather pattern is expected to persist for the next one to two days, driven by favourable monsoon wind systems.
However, the official also warned that haze intensity might increase during this time, potentially affecting visibility and worsening air quality in several parts of the city.
“A new wave of the monsoon system is likely to enter Lahore after July 20, which may bring more widespread and sustained rainfall,” Mehmood told the press.

While the brief showers have brought temporary relief, they have also caused water accumulation in low-lying areas and traffic disruptions in multiple neighborhoods. Commuters are facing slowdowns due to slippery roads and poor visibility in the early morning and late evening hours.
Authorities have urged residents to stay updated through official weather alerts and exercise caution during travel, particularly in wet and hazy conditions.
