WhatsApp is preparing to roll out a night mode camera option, aimed at helping users take clearer photos in low-light environments. The update, currently part of the Android beta version, is expected to reach more users soon via the Google Play Store.

WABetaInfo, a source known for tracking WhatsApp updates, shared details of the new feature. It introduces a moon icon in the camera interface, which becomes available when lighting is dim. Users can tap the icon to enable night mode manually.

Once activated, the mode uses software tools to enhance image brightness and reduce graininess, without adding filters or artificial effects. This allows users to capture more accurate and usable photos in evening or indoor settings.

Unlike many mobile camera apps that automatically switch to night mode, WhatsApp’s version gives users control over when to apply it. This is especially useful in scenarios where lighting isn’t consistently low, giving more flexibility and intentional use.

While the feature helps improve quality in common low-light conditions, such as indoor rooms or twilight, it may not perform well in very dark environments. Developers have made it clear that the tool is not designed for pitch-black settings.

The update reflects WhatsApp’s ongoing push to enhance the camera tool built into its app, which plays a major role in status uploads, image sharing, and video recording.
