The Singapore Airshow 2026 has drawn record numbers of visitors, showing strong global interest in the aviation and defence industries. Organisers say this year’s event was one of the biggest and busiest editions ever held.
According to Experia Events, the organiser of the airshow, around 65,000 trade visitors attended the four business days from February 3 to February 6. These visitors came from more than 130 countries and regions, making the event truly international. In total, over 1,100 companies took part in the show.
The strong turnout proves the aviation and defence sector is active and growing. During the event, delegates held meetings, shared ideas, and explored new business partnerships. Many companies used the platform to discuss future technologies and defence needs.
On the defence side, Singapore’s air force chief announced an important update. He said Singapore will buy used Lockheed Martin C-130H transport aircraft to replace its older C-130 fleet. This decision was made instead of purchasing a completely new aircraft type, helping to manage costs while maintaining capability.
The airshow also highlighted new technology cooperation. Airbus and Singapore shared the success of a trial involving teamwork between a manned H225M helicopter and a Flexrotor uncrewed aerial vehicle. This test showed how crewed and uncrewed systems can work together in future missions.
Meanwhile, Swedish defence company Saab announced plans to increase production of its Gripen E/F fighter jets. The company aims to build 36 aircraft per year as its production line in Brazil moves closer to its first delivery.
Overall, the Singapore Airshow once again proved to be a key global event, reflecting innovation, cooperation, and confidence in the future of aviation and defence.
