This action places Pakistan among the early adopters of Wi-Fi 7 in the Asia-Pacific region, demonstrating a strong commitment to extending digital connectivity.
Wi-Fi 7 aims to provide faster internet speeds, lower latency, and more dependable connections. It will allow cutting-edge technologies like 8K video streaming, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), and intelligent industrial processes. By lowering congestion in older frequency bands, the new technology is projected to enhance the overall user experience and facilitate next-generation services.
According to the PTA, adopting Wi-Fi 7 would help reduce broadband distribution costs while also improving connection in households, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), educational institutions, hospitals, and smart cities. This action is also intended to expedite digital transformation and increase countrywide access to high-speed internet.
PTA emphasized the significance of this milestone, reaffirming its objective of decreasing the digital gap and fostering equitable growth. The body stated that it will continue to build forward-thinking policies and regulatory frameworks to promote advanced technology adoption and boost Pakistan’s standing in the global digital scene.
