OpenAI appears to be quietly testing a new feature called “Study Together” within ChatGPT, sparking interest among educators and tech enthusiasts alike.

The tool has been noticed by some users in the drop-down menu of ChatGPT’s interface, although OpenAI has yet to officially announce its release.

Early feedback suggests that Study Together is designed to foster deeper learning by encouraging users to think critically, rather than passively receiving answers.

The chatbot reportedly responds to queries with follow-up questions, mimicking the approach of a tutor rather than a solution provider.

This move may be OpenAI’s response to increasing concerns that AI chatbots are being misused by students to avoid genuine academic effort.

By shifting the focus toward active learning, the company seems to be addressing critics who argue that AI tools may be undermining education systems.

There is also speculation that Study Together could allow multiple users to participate in group study sessions, turning ChatGPT into a shared educational space.

However, OpenAI has not confirmed any such features, nor has it clarified whether the tool will be available to all users or restricted to paid plans like ChatGPT Plus.

When questioned, the chatbot itself noted that there has been no official timeline shared for the release of Study Together.
