Meta briefly published and then removed a promotional video showcasing its next generation of AI-powered smart glasses, giving the tech world an early look at the ambitious of company wearable roadmap.
The video, accidentally posted on the official YouTube channel of Meta, revealed several new devices expected to debut at the Meta Connect event later this month.
Chief among them is the Ray-Ban “Hypernova”, the flagship smart glasses of the company featuring a heads-up display (HUD). This technology projects maps, messages, and notifications directly into the wearer’s field of vision, marking a leap beyond Meta’s current audio and camera-focused glasses.
The video also highlighted a new EMG wrist controller. This device uses muscle activity in the wrist and fingers to control the Hypernova glasses, allowing users to interact with AI seamlessly and hands-free. Analysts suggest this could redefine how consumers engage with augmented reality.

Also teased was the Oakley Meta Sphaera, designed for athletes, which includes a central frame camera. Meta confirmed updated versions of its existing Ray-Ban AI glasses and Oakley HSTN line as well.
The leak has sparked industry debate, as Meta pushes deeper into the increasingly competitive AI wearable market. Apple, Google, Amazon, and Snap are all working on similar devices. With pricing rumored at around $800, the Hypernova targets tech enthusiasts and early adopters.
The premature release raises expectations ahead of Meta Connect, where the company is now expected to detail specifications, release timelines, and pre-orders. For Meta, this lineup signals a strategic pivot: AI wearables, not smartphones, could soon become the main way users connect with its ecosystem.
